King's is a forward-looking boarding and day school for 480 boys and girls from 13-18 years. It is magnificently situated in over one hundred acres with excellent playing fields on the edge of Taunton, the county town of Somerset. Taunton enjoys excellent road and rail links, and both Heathrow and Gatwick airports are well-served by trains and coaches.
King's provides a first-rate academic education which is imaginative and up-to-date in its approach, while maintaining high traditional standards. The school is well-equipped with a Design and Technology Centre, Art School, Video Studio, Music Recording Studio and department resource centres. We are able to offer Academic, Music, Art, CDT, Sport and All Rounder Scholarships and have assisted places available at both 13 and 16 years of age.
The creative arts play an important role and the school has a fine tradition of choral singing as well as a most accomplished orchestra, chamber orchestra, wind band and jazz band. Plays are frequently produced and there is usually a musical at least once a year.
King's enjoys an enviable sporting tradition, and the spacious playing fields, large and well-equipped sports hall, multi-gym, superb 25 metre indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, astro-turf hockey pitch and all-weather hockey pitch ensure that pupils enjoy the widest opportunities.
King's aims to create a happy, friendly and caring community where each individual can develop his or her personality to the full and learn the values which we expect from our pupils. Kindness, consideration for others, self-respect, honesty and self-discipline: these are the values in which we believe. King's College hopes to provide its pupils with the inner resources not just for school, but for life.
